Donis Beck Barnes was born in Columbia, Mississippi to LaRose and Guy Beck on November 8, 1938.  Our Lord took her in His loving arms and carried her to her heavenly home on Monday, June 4, 2012.

Visitation will be Thursday evening June 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs.  Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8th at County Line Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to County Line Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 578, Crystal Springs, MS  39059.

While living in Jackson, MS and raising her family Donis worked for the Mississippi Highway Department for many years.  She later worked for JTC Computer Company in Jackson.  In each place she made close friends whom she cherished and stayed in touch with after her retirement.

Donis was able to attend several of her Columbia High School reunions where she enjoyed renewing and continuing her childhood friendships.

She believed that we were all put on this earth to fulfill a purpose given to us by our Heavenly Father.  All who knew Donis knew what her purpose was – to love and care for and nurture her family.  Without question God had greeted her with “A job well done.”

Donis lived and served the Lord through County Line Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, and several church committees as well as singing in the church choir.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Kat) of Kenner LA, John (Kim) of Crystal Springs, Shari of Crystal Springs, Bill (Diane) of Crystal Springs; grandchildren and great grandchildren; Nicole, Nicholas, Tonya, Lauren, Sara, James, Brianna, Latham, Abigail and Parker; sister, Barbara (Lucy), brothers, Charles (Jan) and George (Deris); Aunt Iva Jo and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.

Donis was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, John Howard Barnes, her parents and grandparents.

The family would like to thank Hospice Ministries for their loving care, Dr. Grace Shumaker and Dr. James Ervin for their wonderful medical care and all the friends and loved ones who offered daily prayers and support.
